Delhi Capitals have won 7 games in the 14 games they played and pushed to 5th position in the IPL 2022 Points Table with a total point of 14. GMR Sports Pvt. Ltd & JSW Sports Pvt Ltd owned team have been inconsistent throughout the IPL 2022 season.

It is learned that ahead of IPL 2023 auction, all teams are asked to submit their final list of retained players by November 15, 2022. In order to avoid a massive collapse all teams will look to retain their star performers and will release the rest. It is expected that all teams will retain a maximum of 15 players ahead of the tournament. The likes of Mandeep Singh, Lalit Yadav, Pravin Dubey, and Ripal Patel may be released by the franchise before IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants were one of the two new franchises that made their debut in IPL 2022. The Lucknow-based franchise became the first one to represent Uttar Pradesh in the Indian Premier League. KL Rahul was named the captain of the team. The team management formed a stellar squad at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

As expected, LSG made it to the playoffs in their debut season, but they could not win the title. Lucknow finished third on the points table, meaning they had to play in the Eliminator match. Royal Challengers Bangalore knocked them out of the competition by defeating them in the Eliminator match.

Lucknow Super Giants may release Indian batter Manish Pandey, Australian fast bowler Andrew Tye, and Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis because of his hefty price tag ahead of IPL 2023.

Mitchell Marsh, an integral part of Australia’s 2021 T20 World Cup-winning team, was brought on board for INR 6.5 Crore by the Delhi Capitals. Mitchell Marsh has played 29 IPL games thus far, scoring 477 runs averaging 22.71, and has taken 24 scalps averaging 21.75. He amassed 251 runs in 8 IPL 2022 games averaging 31.38 including 2 fifties at a strike rate of 132.8. He also took 4 scalps in IPL 2022, averaging 25.5.

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh had an excellent 2021 T20I World Cup in UAE where he amassed 2 fifties and scored 185 runs in 5 innings averaging 61.67. He has managed only 107 runs averaging 26.75 in 4 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022 with a best of 45 against Afghanistan. He may be targeted by Lucknow if he’s released by Delhi ahead of IPL 2023, though it may not be so, as Delhi is expected to retain him.

Mustafizur Rahman

The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh has thus far played five IPL seasons and has 46 IPL wickets to his name from as many matches averaging 29.67. He picked 8 scalps in as many IPL 2022 matches averaging 30.5 and had picked 14 scalps in as many IPL 2021 matches as well.

Mustafizur Rahman performed admirably over his eight games for the Delhi Capitals team, taking eight wickets at an economy rate of 7.63. Nevertheless, the Bangladesh pacer was left off the team as Proteas pacer Anrich Nortje returned from injury.

Additionally, Khaleel Ahmed’s spectacular performance with the ball—picking up 16 wickets in ten games averaging 19.69—meant that the XI’s requirement for a left-arm seamer was met. Therefore, Mustafizur Rahman’s assistance was not needed in the later stages of the IPL 2022 contest. Lucknow Super Giants may target him in the IPL 2023 auctions if he’s released by Delhi.

Kuldeep Yadav

Crafty left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was brought on board by the Delhi Capitals for INR 2 Crore. He had a standout IPL 2022 season, where he picked 21 scalps in 14 games averaging 19.95 with a best of 4/14. Kuldeep Yadav had a disaster in IPL 2021.

Once considered India’s first-choice spinner, the chinaman bowler fell out of favor with both the Indian team and his former IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two years. He played only 4 games in IPL 2021 and didn’t play a single game in the last season.

The 28-year-old was duly released from KKR ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, but he returned with a bang in IPL 2022 playing for Delhi Capitals. He may be targeted by Lucknow if he’s released by Delhi ahead of IPL 2023, though it may not be so, as Delhi are expected to retain him.
