Mystery spinner from Sri Lanka made his way in IPL 2022 as the Chennai Super Kings bought him for INR 70 lakhs at the 2022 Mega Auction. KKR and CSK both showed interest in the 21-year-old youngster, but it was the CSK who bagged him into their camp.

Referred to as the next mystery sensation in Sri Lankan cricket, he picked up 12 wickets in 9 games for CSK in IPL 2022 in an otherwise disappointing campaign where CSK finished at the second last spot.

At 22, he is called the xerox of Ajantha Mendis, and some of the franchises can go big to secure his services if CSK decides to release him. At the ongoing WC, he has taken 9 wickets so far in the T20 World Cup 2022.

Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri-Lankan player, was brought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 10.75 crores in IPL 2022 mega auction. The star cricketer from the Island nation has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. In 14 matches, he has scalped 24 wickets and is the current purple cap holder in IPL 2022. He is one of the highlights of this season, and RCB will love to keep a good association with him in the next season and retain him before the IPL 2023 auction.

He is currently the leading wicket-taker in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and tops the list with 13 wickets this far.

With 155 runs in the tournament, Kusal Mendis finished as the sixth leading run-scorer of the Asia Cup. Even though he has a career strike rate of 126.48 in T20Is, the 27-year-old batted at a strike rate of 156.56 in the Asia Cup and that is very impressive for an opener.

His wicket-keeping skill also adds to his CV but more importantly, the man can play handsome shots in every part of the ground. If he proves his consistency in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, the 27-year-old might get his first opportunity in the cash-rich league. He currently has amassed 205 runs from 7 games and is currently the third-highest scorer in the World Cup.
