High-level alarm bells have been ringing since Australian player Cameron Green entered the auction for the 2023 Indian Premier League season.

Green, who has a history of injuries, is quickly making his way onto the Australian national teams in all three formats. He wasn’t in the T20 best XI, but he made the World Cup team and will play this week for Australia in a three-match ODI series against England.

With 14 Test matches under his belt, the all-rounder is already a staple of the Test team as well. If he stays healthy over the following eight months, he will quadruple that amount, playing in two and three-match home series against the West Indies and South Africa, as well as four Tests in India for the Border-Gavaskar series and the five-match Ashes series in England.

Ravichandran Ashwin Sure Of Teams Breaking The Bank For Cameron Green

If Australia qualifies for the World Test Championship, which seems plausible given the present standing and remaining games before the final, which would be played just a fortnight before the Ashes in England, he might play 15 Tests in that time frame.

The Australian claims that Cameron Green might bring in a lot of money at the auction for the IPL.

“Some teams might think of using him in the powerplay and might go after him in this year’s auctions unless and until he pulls out,” Indian star Ravichandran Ashwin said.

“I am sure some team will break the bank for him in this year’s auction.”

Along with his bowling prowess, Green also possesses the capacity to bat wherever in the order, as evidenced by the two half-centuries he scored in place of David Warner during a three-match T20 tour of India prior to the World Cup.

The international break forced by the IPL will essentially be the only break for multi-format Australian players between now and the end of the summer of 2023–24 as a result of the all-rounder becoming a multi-format player and downward pressure on Australian players to spend January in the Big Bash League.

Pat Cummins Aware Of Cameron Green’s Vulnerability

With Australia, Cameron Green has had a decreased bowling duty, and skipper Pat Cummins has been upfront about the anxiety he has while bowling the all-rounder.

“One of my first thoughts whenever I bowl him is we don’t want to burn him, he’s young, he’s vulnerable,” Cummins said previously.

“It’s been a huge win from the medical side of things to have him play as much cricket as he has over the last couple of years; fortunately, he can fall back on his batting even if he’s not bowling.

“Now he’s in and around three formats it becomes even more important.

“He is someone who loves playing, even when he goes back to WA we have to manage that as well.

“The are 15 Tests in the next few months plus a World Cup, lots of cricket.

“You can’t really blame anyone going (in the IPL). He’s going to have huge demand on him wherever he plays. Decisions will be made, there’s lots of cricket around.”

The IPL draft will be held on December 23 in Kochi.
