The Overseas all-rounders, especially fast-bowling all-rounders, have always been in heavy demand in IPL auctions. In this year’s auction in-form all-rounders Sam Curran, Ben Stokes and Cameron Green are expected to attract enormous bids.
Curran, who recently won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Player of the Tournament award, and Stokes, the England Test captain, have already participated in the IPL, but Green has never featured in the tournament.
A total of 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas) have registered for the IPL 2023 mini-auction. However, the IPL will prune the list down based on input from the franchises, who have until December 9 to get back to the officials. Also, a maximum of 87 players can be acquired in the auction of which 30 can be overseas.
“The IPL Player Registration closed on 30th Nov 2022. A total of 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas players) have signed up to be part of the TATA IPL 2023 Player Auction set to take place on 23rd December 2022 in Kochi. The players’ list includes 185 capped, 786 uncapped and 20 players from Associate Nations,” IPL said in an official media release.
