IPL 2023: Best Mumbai Indians (MI) Playing XI For The Tournament. Mumbai Indians, who have won IPL most times, headed into the IPL 2023 auction with a remaining purse of INR 20.55 crores looking to fill up nine available slots. The five-time IPL champions led by India skipper Rohit Sharma finished tenth on the IPL 2022 points table having lost as many as 10 games last year and winning four.

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be missing the services of Kieron Pollard who announced his retirement from IPL before IPL 2023. He will join the team as the batting coach ahead of a new season.

Cameron Green was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) during IPL 2023 auction. The franchise shelled out INR 17.50 crores to grab the Aussie player in their squad. Cameron Green kept a base price of INR 2 crores in the IPL 2023 auction. Cameron Green has not played in IPL so far.

Mumbai Indians came into the IPL 2023 Mini-Auction with the likes of captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishan Kishan retained in the side. The five-time champion will bank on their core players in the starting XI.

Now that Cameron Green is in Mumbai, he is likely to open with left-hander Ishan Kishan. Captain Rohit Sharma is flexible and can bat in the middle order as well. The most successful franchise lapped up Cameron Green for a staggering INR 17.5 Crores.

The Australian all-rounder is yet to play IPL. The 23-year-old is the second-most expensive buy in the history of the auction. He struck a 19-ball fifty against India in the recent T20I series. The young all-rounder smashed 61 runs off 30 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes in the 1st T20I. The all-rounder scored 52 runs off 21 balls, including 7 four and 3 sixes in the 3rd T20I.

Mumbai Indians spent a whopping INR 15.25 crore to have Ishan Kishan back. It was the most expensive buy at the IPL 2022 mega auction ahead of IPL 15. He was retained before IPL 2023 and is most likely to open in IPL 2023. In IPL 2022, the left-hander batter and keeper scored 418 runs in 14 games averaging 32.15 after a poor IPL 2021, where he amassed only 241 runs in 10 games averaging 26.78.

The skipper of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma may bat in the middle order instead of opening. Since 2011, Rohit Sharma has been an integral part of the Mumbai Indians guiding their batting line-up.  He had a poor IPL 2022 by his standards as he managed only 268 runs in 14 IPL 2022 games averaging a low 19.14- his lowest average since 2008 in IPL.

Suryakumar Yadav

In IPL 2019, he amassed 424 runs to be MI’s second-highest run-getter. He outperformed himself in the IPL 2020 season scoring 480 runs at a strike rate of 145 and went on to make his T20 International debut later for India.

He had amassed 512 runs in IPL 2018 averaging 36.57. In IPL 2021, he amassed 317 runs in 14 games, and in IPL 2022, he amassed 303 runs in 8 games averaging 43.29. The No. 1 ranked T20I batter will bat in the middle order for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.

Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma was the find of IPL 2022. He was retained by Mumbai Indians before IPL 2023. Tilak Varma scored 397 runs in his debut IPL 2022 season averaging 36.09 in 14 matches.  A member of India’s U19 World Cup squad in 2020, Tilak Varma was bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.7 crore in IPL 2022 auctions.

Tim David will face tough competition from Proteas Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brevis in MI playing XI of IPL 2023. Tim David, a Singapore player, who now plays for Australia played 8 IPL games in IPL 2022 scoring 186 runs averaging 37.2 at a strike rate of 216.28.

Hrithik Shokeen

Hrithik Shokeen is an off-spinner who has played 5 IPL games and picked 2 scalps besides scoring 43 runs averaging 21.5 with the bat and 63.5 with the ball. The IPL is all about talent-meeting opportunities and Hrithik Shokeen is an example of the same. Just 21, the young off-spinner has been picked up by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR 20 lakhs after having impressed with his incisive bowling for India U19.

Piyush Chawla

Piyush Chawla, the veteran spinner, has picked 157 scalps in 165 matches averaging 27.39. He is the 5th highest wicket-taker in IPL history. The 33-year-old leg spinner has played for CSK, KKR, and PBKS in the past besides Mumbai Indians in IPL 2021 where he played only 1 game. Veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was sold for INR 50 lakh to Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023 auction.
