Cameron Green, the largest IPL 2023 auction purchase for the Mumbai Indians (MI), will only be ready as a bowling choice from April 13. He suffered an injury during the Boxing Day Test against South Africa, which forced him to miss some time.

Green was acquired by MI for a whopping 17.5 crore at the IPL 2023 mega-auction last month. The youngster was one of the most coveted individuals selected during the occasion. Regardless of his lack of experience at the top level, his adaptability in the batting order and ability to get movement off the surface makes him a useful addition.

The all-rounder is an important element of the Australian team, particularly in red-ball cricket. He brings a certain symmetry to the team and has a very busy schedule in the following months, with Australia’s trip of India and the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

As reported by the Times of India, Cricket Australia informed the franchisees that Green’s workload would be assessed during the competition, particularly if he played all four Tests during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February and March.

On the morning of December 23, BCCI CEO and IPL COO Hemang Amin sent an email to all ten teams. According to the communication:

“Cricket Australia has informed this morning that Cameron Green (player No. 8) will be fully available. However, if he features in all the four Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Green will not be able to bowl for four weeks from the conclusion of the fourth Test scheduled from 9th March to 13th March, 2023.”

Upon submitting his name in the auction, the Perth-born player was cautioned by his Australian colleagues about the difficulties surrounding workload.
