How the Tie-break rule will work

An unexplained aspect of the auction is the tie-break rule which will lead to a Silent Written Bid. It can come into the equation if two or more franchises are locked for bidding for a player but do not have sufficient funds.

Availability of International Players for the IPL 2023 season

Barring Sri Lankans and Bangladeshi, players from other countries will be available for the entire duration of the tournament. The Australian and English players, in particular, will be available fully for the IPL. That is despite the looming Ashes series starting in June.

Here you will get all the live updates of the auction and the drama which unfolds. 405 players are set to go under the hammer at the auction in Kochi, we will get to see some Intense bidding today which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM IST.

The IPL Auction 2023 is all set to get underway in Kochi on December 23rd, 2022. While a lot of senior Indian players have been retained by the franchises, the younger Indian talent will be in focus given the limited purse value each team has for the IPL Auction 2023.

SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) have the biggest purse value remaining with an amount equalling INR 42.25 Crores while Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have the lowest balance which amounts to INR 7.05 Crores.

A total of 405 players will go under the hammer in the IPL auction 2023. Out of these, there are 19 players who have kept themselves in the Rs. 2 crore bracket. There are 11 players who in the Rs. 1.5 crores bracket. There are 20 players in the bracket of Rs. 1 crore.

All the franchises released some of the players in to add some important money ahead of the IPL auctions in 2023. Some big names were released and some were traded by the IPL franchises. Delhi Capitals traded Shardul Thakur to KKR, GT traded Rahmanullah Gurbaz to KKR, and Royal Challengers Bangalore dealt Jason Behrendorff to Mumbai Indians.

Gujarat Titans transferred Lockie Ferguson to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). SRH has the biggest purse with 42.25 crores and KKR has the smallest with 7.05 crores. Let’s have a peek into how the teams are placed ahead of the mini-auction in Kochi.

In 2022, the Kolkata franchise which has been very consistent throughout, had one of its worst seasons, finishing 7th in the points table last season.
