One of the new players in last year’s IPL who caught the eyes of fans and experts was Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer, Mohsin Khan. India and Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has reacted to him missing out on the majority of the IPL 2023 season.
Mohsin took 14 wickets in 9 matches, bowling with an under-6 economy and an average of 14.07. He was also likely in contention for an Indian cap. It was reported that he suffered discomfort in the late stages of the tournament last year. He was sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he had blood clots removed from his shoulder surgically.

It is now being reported that the UP speedster is at the LSG training camp in Lucknow. He is batting in the nets but is unable to bowl due to the discomfort in his shoulder.
Ravichandran Ashwin has been giving a preview on each of the 10 teams on his YouTube channel. In the video about LSG, the conversation naturally came to Mohsin Khan. When the spinner’s co-host informed that the pacer is most likely ruled out of IPL 2023, Ashwin said –
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
“Oh no! In fact, people were saying that he is having the capability to even play for India. Anyway, that’s just sad.”
While there is no official news on Mohsin Khan’s absence, it is understood that he will most definitely miss a big chunk of the tournament.
Ravichandran Ashwin commends LSG’s auction strategy
While discussing Lucknow Super Giants’ squad for the upcoming IPL 2023, Ravichandran Ashwin commended the job team management did at last December’s mini-auction
The side was busy on the auction table, buying West Indian keeper-batter Nicholas Pooran for a whopping Rs. 16 Crores. They also bought all-rounders Romario Shephard and Daniel Sams for under Rs. 1 Crore each. The team also bought Indian-capped bowlers -Amit Mishra and Jaydev Unadkat.
Commenting on the Lucknow-based franchise’s auction strategy, Ravichandran Ashwin said –
“They had a terrific auction as they had Nicholas Pooran. Now they have Nicholas Pooran to complement Stoinis in finishing. In bowling they have Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, and co.”
LSG will be looking to improve upon their playoff appearance last year, maybe even looking to win it all this season. Their IPL 2023 season will kick off on Saturday, April 1 against Delhi Capitals (DC).
