Delhi Capitals (DC) takes on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 16 of IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, April 16. The Capitals have won three out of their last five games against KKR. Vizag is the “home ground” for the Capitals for two games in this season’s IPL.

DC are heading into this match after beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their previous match and bagging the first points of IPL 2024. Delhi’s target of 192 was not surpassed by CSK who finished on 171 and lost the match by 20 runs. 

MS Dhoni finally walked out to bat in the last match and rolled back the clock as he scored 37 off 16 balls. The Capitals pacers were pinpoint with their execution against the Chennai big-hitters. Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets inside the powerplay and his good work was backed by Anrich Nortje and Mukesh Kumar at the death. 

The inclusion of Prithvi Shaw paid instant dividends for DC as he blasted 43 off 27 balls. He scored a 91-run opening stand with David Warner (52). Both Warner and Shaw have good records against KKR. Shaw’s best score of 99 is against KKR while Warner also has an IPL ton against KKR. 

Speaking about KKR, their batting depth in the first two games was on show. They managed to win by good fortune as Harhit Rana kept his cool in the final over against SRH.

Against RCB, they chased down the target of 813 inside 17 overs. The move to open with Sunil Narine paid off in this match as he blasted 47 off 22 balls. Gautam Gambhir’sd decision to stick with him paid off and he will want him to continue.

KKR and RR are the only two teams now who have not lost a game so far in the season. The Knight Riders need to keep the winning run especially away from home. Shreyas Iyer will be up against his former Delhi Capitals teammate in this match.
