Rajasthan Royals takes on Mumbai Indians in match 14 of IPL 2024 in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium on Monday, April 1. This is their first away game of the season.
The Royals are heading into this game on the back of two consecutive wins against LSG and Delhi Capitals. They won both their games defending. They won against Lucknow by 20 runs and against DC by 12 runs.
They are a side who are happy to bat first pile up big scores and ask their bowlers to defend. The Royals scored 193 against LSF and 185 against Delhi Capitals. The rise of Riyan Parag at number four has added more depth to the batting order with Shimron Heymyer and Rovman Powell as the big hitters.
They have their core well retained with Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson as the key batters. Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal are the three main bowlers with Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma adding as the supporting cast.

Yashasvi Jaiswal
Jaiswal scored five off seven against DC. He scored 24 in the first game against DC. The southpaw is coming off a very good Test series against England scoring over 700 runs. he scored 625 runs in the IPL last year.
Jos Buttler
Buttler scored 11 each in the first two games against LSG and DC. He is yet to get going in the series. He top-scored in IPL 2022 with 863 runs including four centuries.
Sanju Samson (C/WK)
Samson the skipper will slot in at three. He scored an unbeaten 82 in the first game and just 15 in the second. The skipper rotated his bowlers well in the season so far.
Riyan Parag
Parag has been promoted to bat at four this season. He scored 43 off 29 in the first game and an unbeaten 84 off 45 balls in the second. He is amongst the top run-getters early in the season.
Shimron Hetmyer / Rovman Powell
One among Powell or Hetmyer can bat at five. It was Hetmyer who got his chance to bat in the previous game and scored 14 off 7 balls.
Dhruv Jurel
Jurel can bat at six and play the finisher’s role. He scored 20 off 12 in the two games that he has batted at number six. The right-hander recently made his Test debut in the series against England.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin will slot in at seven. He batted at five in the previous game and scored 29 off 19 balls. He has picked up 172 wickets in the IPL with 27 wickets in 32 matches for the Royals.
Sandeep Sharma
Sandeep will be among one of the two Indian pacers in the XI. Against DC, he bowled a spell of none for 36 in four overs. He primarily bowls in the second half of the innings.
Trent Boult
Boult will be the third overseas player in the XI. He has picked up two wickets in the first two games. He has picked up 31 wickets in 28 IPL games for the Royals.
Avesh Khan
Avesh defended 17 off the final over against Delhi Capitals making his first impact for the Royals. He was traded by LSG to the Royals ahead of the season. He has picked 56 wickets in the IPL. He will play his 50th IPL match next game.
Yuzvendra Chahal
Chahal concludes the likely playing XI for the Royals. He is the highest wicket-taker in the IPL with 190 scalps. He is 10 short of becoming the first bowler to get to 200 IPL wickets. He picked up 3/19 against DC.
Impact Player- Nandre Burger
Burger might be used in the Impact Player role by the Royals. They used him in the same role in the first two games. He picked up 2/20 in the last game.
