The fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) was played between the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday, March 24.
The home team won the toss and they decided to bat first in the match. The Sanju Samson & Co. only had three overseas players in the playing XI in Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, and Trent Boult. On the other hand, KL Rahul’s team had four overseas players in Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Naveen-ul-Haq.
The impact subs nominated by Lucknow Super Giants in the match were Deepak Hooda, Mayank Yadav, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, and K Gowtham while the Rajasthan Royals nominated Nandre Burger, Rovman Powell, Tanush Kotian, Shubham Dube, and Kuldeep Sen.
After an intense clash between the two teams, Rajasthan Royals emerged victorious by 20 runs to start their campaign in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on high.

Batting first, the famed opening duo of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) wasn’t able to provide the team with a flying start. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler looked confident in the middle but the latter was dismissed for 11 in the 2nd over itself.
Jaiswal tried to carry on his red-hot form and scored runs at a strike rate of 200 in partnership with Sanju Samson. However, he wasn’t able to score big and was dismissed by the LSG pacer Mohsin Khan for 24.
The new no.4 Riyan Parag next joined his skipper in the middle and duo showcased their batting prowess by playing an attacking brand of cricket. Samson and Parag took the LSG bowlers to the cleansers ajd weren’t having difficulty in facing them.
Their partnership lasted for 59 balls and they added 93 runs together, before the dismissal of Parag for 43 runs in 15th over. Although, Hetmyer wasn’t able to score much, Dhruv Jurel supported Sanju Samson very well and duo took RR to a good total of 193/4.
Sanju Samson continued his stellar performance in the opening matches and smashed 82 runs off 52 balls, with 3 fours and 6 sixes. The young wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel scored 20 runs off 12 balls, including 1 four and 1 six.

Chasing the target in the match, LSG were off to the worst possible start as they were reduced to 11/3 with Quinton de Kock, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ayush Badoni back in the dugout.
KL Rahul was then joined by Deepak Hooda, who played quite well and was involved in a great 49-run partnership with his skipper. However, Hooda had to take a long walk back to the dugout in the 8th over as he was cleaned up by Yuzvendra Chahal. After 10 overs, LSG were at 76/4 with KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran in the middle.
In the end, Pooran hit a fantastic half-century and was unbeaten in the middle but he wasn’t able to help his team win the match. The RR death bowlers did a fantastic job and restricted the Lucknow Super Giants to 173/6.
