Kolkata Knight Riders star Andre Russell was in his element as he blew Sunrisers Hyderabad away with a whirlwind fifty in the ongoing fourth game of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

Asked to bat first, KKR were in all sorts of trouble after being reduced to 51 for 4. Ramandeep Singh and Phil Salt steadied the ship and took the score past the 100-run mark before both of them departed in quick succession. At one stage, KKR were reeling at 119 for 6 in the 14th over.

With six overs remaining and only four wickets in hand, KKR were looking set to post well below 180. However, Andre Russell had other ideas. The hard-hitting West Indian took the SRH bowlers to the cleaners and powered KKR to a huge total of 208 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.

He went big right from the start and completed his fifty in just 20 balls. The right-handed batsman was hitting sixes for fun and eventually remained unbeaten on 64. His knock came off just 25 balls and was studded with three fours and seven sixes. He and Rinku Singh added 81 runs for the seventh wicket before T Natarajan dismissed the latter for 23 in the very final over.

Andre Russell’s Huge Sixes:

Mayank Markande faced the full wrath of Andre Russell’s hitting in the 16th over of the innings. Bowling his final over of the spell, the leg-spinner conceded three sixes in the over and all of them were huge ones. On the first ball of the over, Andre Russell hit a 91-meter six.

Markande managed to deliver two dot balls before being hit for a mammoth 102-meter six. On the fifth ball of the over, the KKR star smashed a 96-meter six.

Watch:

Apart from Russell, opener Phil Salt impressed with the bat as well. Making his debut for KKR, the England star scored 54 runs off 40 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes.
