Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul didn’t take long to make an impact in the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The 4th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is taking place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

KL Rahul surprised many when he took the wicket-keeping role in the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals. The keeper-batter was asked by the BCCI Medical Team to avoid keeping for the first few games in the tournament so that he doesn’t make extra effort, which might aggravate his injury.

But KL Rahul so far has shown positive signs behind the stumps. This was evident when he took a blistering catch to remove Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler. It was during the 6th ball of the second over during the over of Naveen-ul-Haq, who looked decent with the ball.

Naveen-ul-Haq bowled a fuller-length delivery in the channel just outside off. Jos Buttler went with hard hands on the drive and got a thick edge. KL Rahul behind the stumps put in a magnificent effort. He moved swiftly to his right and pouched a two-handed low catch.

Here’s the video:

Jos Buttler was looking aggressive and played some gorgeous shots in his innings. He was trying to put pressure on the Lucknow Super Giants but Naveen-ul-Haq made sure he provided his team with a crucial breakthrough in the game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Jos Buttler scored 11 runs off 9 balls. He batted with a strike rate of over 122 and also hit two fours in his innings. After the opening batter got out, Yashasvi Jaiswal took the charge and made sure that he scored some quick runs.

Yashavi Jaiswal scored 24 runs off 11 balls and batted with a strike rate of 200. He hit three fours and 1 six in his innings before Mohsin Khan removed him. The pacer bowled a short delivery and cramped the batter for room. He was rushed for pace as the ball lobbed up and was taken by mid-on.

We’ve been told he’ll not keep for the first few games – Quinton de Kock on KL Rahul

Ahead of the game against Rajasthan Royals, Quinton de Kock opened up about KL Rahul’s role with the gloves in the IPL. He revealed that they have been told that the skipper won’t be keeping for the first few games in the tournament. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

“I think he’s trying to keep everyone relaxed and calm, his demeanour has been chilled and he’s kept everyone cool and calm. To be honest, I’m not too sure, I’m not part of the brain trust, you’ll need to ask the big dogs in the team management. I don’t know the reason (on why KL will not take the gloves), but we’ve been told he’ll not keep for the first few games.”

It remains to be seen for how many games will KL Rahul keep wickets in the ongoing IPL. So far he has done a terrific job.
