Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma produced a magnificent effort with the bat during the game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The El Classico between the teams took place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (14th April).

Rohit Sharma was the lone warrior for Mumbai Indians in the game against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024. The opening batter oozed his class with the bat and entertained the Wankhede crowd big time with his power-hitting against the arch-rivals at his home ground in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday (14th April).

Rohit Sharma, who was replaced as the captain of Mumbai Indians, made sure that he made his bat talk and helped his team get close to the target. The opening batter came out all guns blazing in the chase of 207 runs and made sure that he kept his team in the hunt even though wickets kept falling at the other end.

Rohit Sharma slammed a magnificent century and ended with the innings of unbeaten 105 runs. However, he couldn't take his team home as Mumbai Indians fell short of 20 runs. He looked in complete control of his innings and played some sensational shots during the knock.

This was the first time Rohit Sharma failed to win a game for his team, having been unbeaten at the end. The opening batter looked completely shattered by the fact that he failed to win the game for his team and walked off without even shaking hands with the players of the Chennai Super Kings after the game was over.

In a video that has gone viral on the internet, Rohit Sharma can be seen walking off the field with his head down at the Wankhede Stadium. He didn't even look at the Chennai Super Kings players and headed straight to the dressing room.

Here's the video:

Rohit Sharma has looked in the decent touch in the ongoing IPL 2024 and is giving his everything with the bat. The batter is the fourth leading run-getter in the league with over 260 runs to his name and would be keen to carry the good form and head into T20 World Cup 2024 with high confidence.

Felt the game was sliding a little when Rohit was going well - Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur, who bowled sensationally well in the death overs for Chennai Super Kings, admitted that they felt the game was sliding away from them when Rohit Sharma was going great guns. He talked about his plan to batter and revealed:

"Difficult to defend at Wankhede. We felt the game was sliding a little when Rohit was going well. I felt let's be brave here and make him hit to the bigger side. If he gets a boundary full marks to him and if he misses we could turn the game," Shardul Thakur told broadcasters.

Mumbai Indians will be next seen in action when they take on Punjab Kings on Thursday (18th April). Chennai Super Kings on the other hand will take on Lucknow Super Giants next on Friday (19th April).
