IPL 2025 Retained Players List
The preparations for IPL 2025 is truly underway. Each franchise has already started planning for the next season and will be finalising their squads soon when they IPL 2025 mega auction gets underway. The highly-awaited auction is set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Saudi Arabia.
Ahead of the auction, all the ten IPL franchises have announced the names of the players that they have retained. The teams have retained a total of 46 players. Of the 46 retained players, 36 are Indians while the remaining 10 are overseas players.
Out of the ten IPL teams, only two teams - Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad - have retained more than one overseas player. Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained three overseas players while reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders have retained two foreign players.
A number of teams have retained only one overseas player while three teams - Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings - have not retained any player.
Of the 10 teams, only two teams - Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals—have retained the full quota of six players. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans have retained five players each while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have retained four and three players respectively. On the other hand, Punjab Kings have retained only two players.
Interestingly, five teams - Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings as well as champions Kolkata Knight Riders - have all released their captains.
