Lyca Kovai Kings Cricket Team Squad 2025

The Kovai Kings are playing in the TNPL since the inaugural season and are one of the most consistent teams in the competition's history. They have progressed ahead of the league stage in 7 of the 8 seasons so far and have also won the tournament twice.

In the first five seasons, they progressed to the playoffs four times but could not make it to the final. In the inaugural season, they won 4 of their 7 league games and qualified for the semifinals. Their campaign ended with a defeat to Chepauk Super Gillies in the second semifinal.

In the next season, Kovai Kings finished the league stage at the fourth spot and qualified for the playoffs. They beat Karaikudi Kaalai in the Eliminator before losing to eventual winners Chepauk Super Gillies in the second qualifier.

They qualified for the playoffs in the third season too. The Kovai Kings finished the league stage at the third spot in the points table with 4 wins from 7 games. They won the Eliminator against Karaikudi Kaalai. Their campaign ended with a loss to Madurai Panthers in the second qualifier.

In 2019, the Kovai Kings failed to make it past the league stage for the very first time. Their campaign ended at the league stage after they finished at the fifth spot with 4 wins from 7 games. In 2020, the tournament was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the Kovai Kings made it to the playoffs once again but failed to progress to the final. They finished fourth in the points table before bowing out after a loss to Dindigul Dragons in the Eliminator.

Kovai Kings finally qualified for the final in 2022. They were set to defending champions Super Gillies in the final but the match was washed out. As a result, both the teams were adjudged joint winners. Kovai Kings won the tournament in 2023 as well and became only the second team after Super Gillies to defend the title. In 2023, they qualified for the final once again but lost the title-decider against Dindigul Dragons.
