Axar Patel Dedicates His 5th Test 5-fer To His Father On His Birthday

Indian spin bowling all-rounder Axar Patel who has delivered a phenomenal performance in the home Test matches for India has dedicated his 5th Test 5-fer to his father on his birthday.

In the Indian cricket team Axar Patel has been seen as a backup for Ravindra Jadeja in all three formats. Meanwhile, he has delivered a better performance than Ravindra Jadeja since making his Test debut, at least on the bowling side of things.

In his debut Test series against England, the 27-year-old played 3 games and picked 27 wickets including four 5-wicket hauls.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing Test series against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand, the left-arm spinner bagged his 5th 5-fer and helped India gain back the momentum at Green Park, Kanpur.

Overall in 7 Test innings, Axar has been able to pick 32 wickets at an outstanding average of 10.87, an economy of 2.15 and a strike rate of 30.3.

After his 5th Test 5-fer Axar took to Twitter to wish his father, he wrote:

 I Have Never Seen Myself As A White Ball Specialist – Axar Patel

Meanwhile, the Left-arm spinner has said that he never saw himself as a white-ball specialist player and he wants to do well in both red-ball and white-ball cricket. He said:

Whenever I have played first-class or India A, I have done well. I have never seen myself as a white-ball specialist, It’s all in mind-set as to what you perceive yourself as – a white-ball specialist or red ball specialist. I always had the belief that whenever I get a chance I will do well.”

Axar Patel also gave credit to his teammates for having a lot of faith in him. He said:

Obviously, I give credit to team members for having faith in me and I have been able to stand up to their expectations.”
