Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer who made a name for himself playing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is making his India debut in the T20I match against New Zealand on Wednesday, November 17 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur

Meanwhile, newly appointed Indian T20 Internationals captain Rohit Sharma was seen handing over the debut cap to the young Madhya Pradesh all-rounder.

Venkatesh Iyer was one of the most talked-about names in the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 he opened the innings for the team and consistently scored runs for them.

He played 10 games in the season and smashed 370 runs at an average of 41.11 and a strike-rate rate of 128.47 including 4 half-centuries. Also with his medium-fast deliveries, he bagged 3 wickets for the team.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a clip of Venkatesh Iyer receiving a debut cap from Rohit Sharma on Twitter and captioned the post :

Ahead of the match he spoke to broadcasters and said that he is delighted to get the opportunity to represent his country. He also expressed his excitement to play under the new head coach of India Rahul Dravid and said that he is ready to bat at any position and bowl whenever the team demands. He asserted:

Everyone who plays cricket aspires to play for the country, so I feel good that I’ve been presented with this opportunity. Feels good to play under Rahul (Dravid) sir, I’m really excited and looking forward to it. As a cricketer, you got to be flexible, and I’ll look to capitalise on the role I’ve been given. I’m ready to bat at any position, or bowl whenever I’ve been asked to. It’s wonderful to play in front of the (Indian) crowd, it’s great to have them back.
