Indian captain Virat Kohli has said that the wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha is fully fit, and he has recovered from a neck spasm. Hence, he will be available for selection for the second Test match of the two-match Test series against New Zealand, which will begin at iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, from December 3.

Senior wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha had some neck issues in the first Test against New Zealand at Green Park, Kanpur, and KS Bharat was seen taking over the wicketkeeper-batsman responsibility. He did an amazing job for the team, and with Saha’s poor performance with the bat in the first innings, many experts suggested that Bharat should get the opportunity in the playing XI ahead of Saha.

However, Saha fought back strong in the second innings and smashed an outstanding half-century when India were in trouble and helped the team put a big target for the black caps. However, the New Zealand batters showed great intent, and they avoided the defeat even after losing nine wickets, and the match ended in a draw.

While addressing the media on the eve of the second Test, Virat Kohli said: “As of now, he (Saha) is fit. He has recovered from his neck spasm and is absolutely fine.”

The Indian skipper also mentioned that they will be fielding the Playing XI considering the weather conditions. Notably, in India, the management generally fields three frontline spinners. However, if the surface at Wankhede Stadium provides extra help to the pacers, India might drop a spinner from the team.

We will discuss the combination soon. There is a weather change, and we have to take that into account, and we have to pick the combination accordingly.

“At the end of the day, you cannot predict whether conditions will remain like this over the five days. So, we need to see what bowling combination should be picked that can tackle in different conditions,” Virat Kohli asserted.

Also, Virat Kohli, who was rested for the first Test, will be making a comeback in the second game, and it will be interesting to see which batsman will be dropped to make the place for Kohli.
