India gave an incredible bowling show in the 4th innings but they could not bowl out New Zealand. Now, both the teams will look to win the 2nd Test which will give the series victory to the winning team of the match in the two-match Test series. Below we talk about India’s predicted playing XI for the 2nd Test vs New Zealand.

India’s Predicted Playing XI For The 2nd Test vs New Zealand

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill will be the opener for India in the 2nd Test. Gill played one good knock of 52 runs in the 1st innings in the last match. He has proved himself at the opening slot with many good innings during the past year.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal will be the other opener for the team in the 2nd Test. The right-handed batsman failed to convert his knock into a big score in the 1st Test. He hit 13 and 17 in both innings. However, India do not have more options for openers in the series. Hence, the Gill-Agarwal pair will open the innings in the next game as well.

Virat Kohli will be back to the squad after missing the 1st Test and will lead the side in the 2nd Test against New Zealand. In his last series against England, Virat Kohli scored 218 runs in 7 innings at an average of 31.14. He struggled to score big knocks during the series but slammed two half-centuries.

Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane will be another player who might be part of the 2nd Test. Although Ajinkya Rahane has consistently failed to perform in the last few Test matches, he is the vice-captain of the team and will not be benched so easily. The right-handed batsman scored 109 runs in 7 innings during the 4 Tests against England in August this year. In the 1st Test against New Zealand, Rahane got out for 35 and 4 in the two innings.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer might be included in the next game as well replacing Cheteshwar Pujara. Shreyas Iyer gained the limelight in the last Test, which was his debut match in the longer format. The right-handed batsman smacked a century in the 1st innings and a half-century in the 2nd innings. Iyer was also awarded player of the match for his fabulous batting in both innings. With his good show in the previous game, the team will give him another opportunity in the next Test.

Ravindra Jadeja will be the all-rounder that the team can pick in the next game. In the previous game, the left-handed batsman gave a brilliant performance with both bat and ball. The left-handed batsman slammed a half-century in one inning. With the ball, the left-arm spinner picked 5 wickets in the match.

Wriddhiman Saha (WK)

Wridhhiman Saha will be the wicket-keeper for the team in the 2nd Test. While Saha got out for just 1 run in the 1st innings in the last game, he slammed an unbeaten 61-run knock in the 2nd innings. His crucial knock helped India to get enough runs on the scoreboard towards the end and set up a good target of 284 for the visitors in the final innings.

Axar Patel

Axar Patel will be the spinner who will be part of the playing XI in the next game. The left-arm spinner gave an amazing performance in the 1st Test. He picked 6 wickets in the match, picking a 5-wicket haul in the 1st innings. He also scored unbeaten 28 runs in the 2nd innings, while also building an important partnership of 67 runs with Wriddhiman Saha.

Ravichandran Ashwin will be another spinner who will be part of the team in the next Test. The right-arm spinner did an amazing job in the 1st Test, hunting 6 wickets in the match. He picked a 3-wicket haul in both innings and helped India to crush the opposition batsmen.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj might be given a chance in the 2nd Test instead of Ishant Sharma. Spin attack is most crucial in the ongoing series for India and the 1st Test also saw spinners bagging most of the wickets. For India, Ishant Sharma was the only bowler who failed to pick any wickets. Siraj might be given a chance to show his skills instead of Sharma in the next game.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav might be the other pacer that the team can pick in the next game. Yadav managed to pick 2 wickets in the first Test, picking 1 wicket each in both innings. He did a better job than Ishant Sharma, who went wicketless in the match.
