Young Ishan Kishan got his chance in the third and final inconsequential ODI against Bangladesh at Chattogram against Bangladesh after captain Rohit Sharma was ruled out due to an injury. Ishan Kishan eventually perished for 210 off 131 balls. His innings was laced with 10 sixes and 24 boundaries. Virat Kohli and Ishan Kishan also stitched a record 290-run stand.

Ishan Kishan became the fourth Indian to hit a double hundred in ODI cricket. He joined the likes of Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag. Ishan Kishan completed the 200 in just 126 deliveries, which is now the fastest double-hundred ever scored. He was the first batter to convert his maiden ODI 100 to 200. In 10 ODIs, he has amassed 477 runs averaging 53 with 1 ton and 3 fifties.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was Man of the series in the ODI series against West Indies and Zimbabwe where he amassed 205 and 245 runs respectively averaging 102.5 and 122.5. He averages 57.25 after playing 15 ODIs amassing 687 runs with 1 ton and 4 fifties.

He hit his maiden century- a career-best 130 against Zimbabwe after scoring 98* against West Indies when rain intervened and he was denied a ton. He may feature in the 2023 WC Indian squad. He wasn’t named in the Indian ODI squad facing Bangladesh but will return against Sri Lanka and play against New Zealand.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul might be another middle-order batsman for the team in the 2023 ODI World Cup and ODI series against Sri Lanka. He may also open the innings. The right-handed 31-year-old batter has been named as the keeper for the ODI series against Bangladesh in Rishabh Pant’s absence.

KL Rahul has hit 5 tons in his ODI career. He top-scored in the 1st ODI against Bangladesh, scoring 73 off 70 when other Indian batters struggled. In 48 ODIs, he averages 44 having amassed 1760 runs.

The right-handed batter and Indian current skipper Rohit Sharma has shown decent form in the 50-over format this year. Rohit Sharma will open the innings for the team or may bat in the middle order against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in ODIs. He has amassed 9454 runs in 235 ODIs averaging 48.73.

He opened with Shikhar Dhawan in the ODI series against Bangladesh before a thumb injury ruled him out of the 3rd ODI and Test series. He has scored a record 3 double tons including the highest recorded individual score of 264.

Virat Kohli

The 34-year-old middle-order batter run machine Virat Kohli’s recent ODI form isn’t that great. A good show in the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022, where he was among the leading run-getters, gave him the necessary confidence to return to form in ODIs too and he responded by scoring 113 in the last inconsequential ODI against Bangladesh.

He has hit 44 ODI tons, the penultimate of which came in August 2019 when he slammed back-to-back tons against West Indies. He is the 2nd highest century scorer in ODIs after Sachin Tendulkar (49 ODI tons) and the 6th highest run-getter in ODIs. He has amassed 12471 in 265 ODIs averaging 57.47.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has hit 2 fifties but has failed to convert fifties into tons. His highest ODI score is only 64 against West Indies in February 2022. In 16 ODIs, he has amassed 384 runs averaging 32.

But he is having an excellent run of form in T20Is, where he has hit 2 tons and 12 fifties and averages 44 at an outstanding strike rate of 180.98. He is currently ranked No. 1 in T20Is by ICC. The 32-year-old right-handed batter isn’t in the ODI squad for the ongoing Bangladesh series.

Hardik Pandya

The spin all-rounder has amassed 2447 runs in 171 ODIs averaging 32.63 apart from taking 189 scalps averaging 37.37.  Ravindra Jadeja may return against New Zealand in the ODI series. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has been injured prone but being an off-spinner is an ideal replacement for off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who may be dropped from ODI World Cup 2023 squad as he had an underwhelming T20 World Cup 2022.

Washington Sundar debuted way back in December 2017 but has only featured in 12 ODIs. He may be included in ODI WC 2023 squad for his age of 23 years being on his side and since he’s an off-spinner. He, however, failed to pick a single scalp in the recently concluded New Zealand ODI series which was marred by rain. He is in the Indian playing XI in the ODI series against Bangladesh where he scored 67 runs and picked 6 wickets averaging 9.33.
