A young cricket fan invaded the field and came scarily close to the India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma before being taken down by the security stewards during the second ODI between the Men In Blue and the Black Caps.
The second ODI of the three-match series between India and New Zealand is currently underway at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday, January 21.
The fanboy stormed into the ground during the 10th over of the Indian innings when Rohit Sharma was batting alongside Shubman Gill and Blair Tickner was bowling.
The 35-year-old smashed the Kiwi pacer for a four and a six on the 3rd and 4th delivery of the over and before the 5th delivery the fanboy invaded the field and hugged the Indian captain Rohit. The security present at the stadium quickly came in and took the boy away from the opening batsman. However, Rohit Sharma told the security, “Chor de baccha hai” (let him go, he’s a kid).

Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. Notably, captain Rohit Sharma suffered an epic brain fade moment and forgot his decision after winning the toss and after a long pause, he finally told “we will bowl first”. Also, both the Men In Blue and the Black Caps fielded an unchanged playing XI.
The decision to bowl first in the match proved extremely beneficial for the Indian team as the bowlers ran through the New Zealand batting unit and bundled them out for 108.
Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma showcased a batting masterclass and scored brilliant 51 runs off 50 balls, with 7 fours and 2 sixes, before being cleaned up by Henry Shipley in the 15th over.
