The 24-year-old India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan’s poor run of form continued in the third T20I against New Zealand National Cricket Team as he endured yet another failure and fell for 3-ball 1.

The series decider of the three-match T20I series between the Hardik Pandya-led India National Cricket Team and the Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand National Cricket Team is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 1 (Wednesday).

Ishan Kishan has been going through a lean patch since his amazing ODI double-century on Bangladesh soil in December 2022. Since his remarkable 210 knock, he has registered the score of 37, 2, 1, 5, 8*, 17, 4, 19, and 1 across the two white-ball formats. During this period he has scored combined 94 runs at an average of just 11.8.

Ahead of the series decider T20I between India and New Zealand, many called for the inclusion of the dynamic opening batsman Prithvi Shaw in the playing XI, but Indian management decided to stick with the same batting combination and Kishan opened with Shubman Gill in the match.

Michael Bracewell came out to bowl the 2nd over of the innings and on the second ball itself, he trapped Kishan LBW. Notably, the Kiwi all-rounder had also dismissed Kishan in the Ranchi T20I.

Bracewell bowled a flat cross-seam delivery on a good length, it went straight beating the inside edge, and hit the Indian wicketkeeper-batter on the pads. The on-field umpire Nitin Menon raised his finger, but Kishan challenged the decision. On the replays, it showed that it was pad first and the ball would have hit the stumps. However, due to the umpire’s call, India managed to save the review.

Ishan Kishan has always had issues against off-spinners. Since 2022 in T20 cricket, Kishan has scored just 92 runs against off-spinners at a strike rate of 79.82 and an average of 18.20 while playing 52 dot balls.
