“An awesome pacer in the making”- this is what we can pull out of Avesh Khan. He has impressed with his performance across formats and made his international debut in 2022.
Avesh Khan is a right-arm pacer who can clock 140 kmph consistently. He was part of the Indian team that won the Asian Games 2023 in China. He was offered a BCCI central contract in 2024.
Avesh Khan has played some T20I series for India. However, due to his expensive spells and injuries, he was out of the national side for a long time but made a comeback later.
Early Life and Career
Avesh Khan was born in Madhya Pradesh on December 13, 1996, to Ashique Khan and Sabina Khan. He hails from Madhya Pradesh and also played for the domestic team since 2017. He was part of the India Under-19 team in U-19 Cricket World Cup 2016.
The right-arm pacer got a huge break in 2017 when Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him in the IPL 2017 season. He also made his IPL debut in the season, however, played just one game.
He continued to impress in the domestic circuit for Madhya Pradesh team. In 2021, he was picked as one of the net bowlers for India. He was later named a standby player in ICC WTC final 2021. However, he had to wait for some time to make his international debut.
International Career
Avesh Khan made his international debut in February 2022, when he was picked for the T20I series against West Indies. He also made his ODI debut in the same year during the West Indies tour.
Although he has been picked as a net bowler in the Test series, the right-arm is yet to make his Test debut for India. So far, he has only played a handful of ODIs and T20Is for Team India.
IPL Career
Avesh Khan has a flourishing career in IPL and has played for many teams. He played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2017 season.
From 2018 to 2021, he was a member of Delhi Capitals. He played for Lucknow Super Giants from 2022 to 2023. He became a member of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024.
Avesh didn’t get enough opportunities from the 2017 to 2020 seasons. Delhi Capitals played him in 16 games in IPL 2024, where he picked 24 scalps to finish as the second-highest wicket-taker in the season. He also gave decent performances in the next seasons.
