Family and Personal Life
Faf du Plessis was born on July 13, 1984, to Francois du Plessis in Pretoria, South Africa. He grew up with his sister Rhemi Plessis and is a childhood friend of AB De Villiers. He married his longtime girlfriend Imari Visser in November 2013 and the couple has two daughters.
Early and Domestic Career
Faf du Plessis made his domestic debut for Northerns in 2003 and played for the side till 2011. He also played for Lancashire and Titans in a few seasons. He made his international debut in 2011 after a long domestic career, however, he was a dominant player during his entire career.
International Career
The South Africa stalwart made his international debut in 2011 with an ODI against India in 2011. He went on to play for South Africa till September 2012. He played a total of 69 Tests, 143 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for the side.
He slammed 4163 runs in 118 Test innings averaging 40+. He shattered 5507 runs in 136 ODI innings at 46+ average and 1528 runs in 50 T20Is innings at 35+ average. He also hit 23 centuries across all three formats.
Franchise Career
Faf du Plessis is still a big name in the Indian Premier League and is the current captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He also played some important seasons for Chennai Super Kings and was a dominant opener for the side.
He joined IPL in the 2011 season with CSK and was part of the side till 2015. Later, he joined Rising Pune Supergiants in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Later, he again played for CSK from 2018 to 2021 before joining RCB as a skipper in 2022.
Faf also plays in other franchise leagues like SA T20, and Major League Cricket and is part of the Joburg Super Kings and Texas Super Kings in both tournaments.
