Misbah ul Haq is a former Pakistan batsman and captain who played for the side from 2001 to 2017. Misbah ul Haq was the last Pakistan wicket who got out to Sreesanth in the T20 World Cup 2007 final when India won the trophy for the first time.
He was a right-handed batsman who used to play in the middle order. He was the Pakistan captain from 2000 to 2015 and a reliable middle-order batsman for Pakistan. Misbah ul Haq also played in the IPL and is a former Pakistan Team coach.
Family and Personal Life
Misbah ul Haq was born on May 28 1974 in Mianwali City in Pakistan to father Abdul Niazi and mother Bulqees Khan Niazi. He loved to play football and listen to music during his childhood. He married Uzma Khan in 2004 and the couple has two kids- Sun Farham ul Haq Khan Niyazi who is also a cricketer.
Early and Domestic Career
Misbah ul Haq trained under childhood coach Tahir Shah. He started his domestic career in Pakistan with the Sargodha team in 1998. From 2000 to 2003 he also played for Khan research laboratories. He also played for Faisalabad from 2003 and remained part of the same team till 2016. He made his International debut in 2001.
International Career
Misbah-ul-haq was a regular member of the Pakistan team from 2001 to 2017. Over the years he played 75 Tests, 162 ODI, and 39 T20 for Pakistan. He slammed 5000 + runs at an outstanding average of 46 + in Tests. He also slammed 10 centuries and 39 half-centuries in the longest format.
In the ODIs, he slammed over 5000 runs at 43 + batting average including 42 half-centuries. Interestingly, Misbah ul Haq never made 3 3-digit scores in ODI. He had an average of 37+, in 39 T20 with three half-centuries.
Franchise Career
Misbah ul Haq was quite active in the franchise T20 league and also played it games in the debut edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008. He was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season and played 8 games for the team hitting 17 runs at 144 + strike rate.
He also to part in foreign franchises like the Bangladesh Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, and Pakistan Super League. He played for various teams like Rangpur Riders, Barbados Tridents, Islamabad United, Chittagong Vikings, and Peshawar Zalmi.
