Mohammad Hafeez is a former Pakistan player and a former Pakistan captain and coach who played for Pakistan team from 2003 to 2021. He was an all-rounder who used to bat in the middle order. Last year, he was also the head coach of the Pakistan team. However, he was removed from the role after team's poor show under his guidance.
Mohammed Hafeez was a right-handed batsman and right-arm spinner who used to bowl spin. He played over 50 Tests 200 ODI and 100 T20 for Pakistan and had a long career. He is still regarded as one of the batting legends in Pakistan cricket.
Family and Personal Life
Mohammad Hafeez was born on 17 October 1980 in Sargodha city in Punjab state of Pakistan. He is married to Nazia Hafeez and the couple tide the knot in 2007. They have two kids- son Roshan and daughter Eman.
Early and Domestic Career
Mohammed Hafeez started his domestic career with Faisalabad Wolves in 2005 and played for the side till 2012. He was quite active in the Domestic league of England too.
International Career
Mohammad Hafeez made his International debut in April 2003 with an ODI against Zimbabwe in UAE and also made his Test debut in the same year but had to wait for three years to make his T20 debut in 2006 against England.
Mohammed Hafeez played 55 Tests, 218 ODIs, and 119 T20s during his active career. He slammed over 3600 runs in Tests at an average of 37+ smacking 10 tons and 12 half-centuries. In ODIs, he hit over 6600 runs at an average of 32+ with 11 tons and 3850.
In T20s, he scored over 2500 runs with 14 T20 including an unbeaten knock of 99.
Franchise Career
Mohammad Hafeez was quite active in franchise T20 leagues all around the world. In the 2008 season of IPL, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders. In Pakistan Super League, he played for teams like Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars, and Quetta Gladiators.
He featured for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League. He was part of the Lanka Premier League in 2021 and played for the Galle Gladiators team.
Records
Mohammed Hafeez made many records during his career and below are some notable ones. He was the third cricketer to score 1000 + runs and take 30 or more wickets in an ODI in a single year.
He also holds the record for most caught and bold wickets in T20 International with six such events. He also won Player of the Match and series awards in T20Is 6 times and it is the third most number of times a player has won the awards. He was the second batsman for Pakistan to reach 2000 runs in T20 cricket.
