Karachi Kings will square up against Lahore Qalandars in the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 on Sunday at National Stadium in Karachi. Last year, Karachi Kings began the season with a seven-wicket win. This season, they have suffered a seven-wicket defeat in their first game. The start hasn’t been great but they would look to turn it around as soon as possible.

Karachi Kings played their first match against Multan Sultans at home. They fared badly both with the bat and ball. Skipper, Babar Azam couldn’t get the team off to a great start. His partner, Sharjeel Khan looked solid in the middle, however, the skipper found it difficult to adjust to the conditions. He scored 23 runs in 29 balls. Unfortunately, the other batsmen too had a hard time playing their shots in the middle.

Joe Clarke made 26 runs in 24 deliveries, while Nabi managed to score 10 off 17 deliveries. Nevertheless, Sharjeel Khan’s 43-run knock off 31 deliveries helped the team reach 124 runs in the first innings.

The Kings needed early wickets to create some sort of pressure to the opposition. The first wicket came in the 5th over, while the second one came in the 15th over. By the time the second wicket fell, Multan Sultans already had the game under their grasp.

Mohammad Nabi was the best bowler that day for Karachi Kings. He picked 2 crucial wickets for 17 runs in 3.2 overs. Perhaps, he should have been brought earlier into the attack and things could have been different for Karachi. Babar Azam and Co. will be playing their third match on Sunday and fans would be hoping that they emerge victorious.

Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, will be playing their second game on Sunday. The captaincy has been given to Shaheen Shah Afridi for this season. Former captain, Sohail Akhtar, though, remains an integral part of the batting unit.

There is no denying the fact that bowling is their strongest suit. Lahore Qalandars have three world-class bowlers in Shaheen Afridi, Harris Rauf, and Rashid Khan. Besides, the presence of David Wiese, Samit Patel and M Hafeez makes them a formidable bowling unit.

The batting, however, is a little short on talent. The onus will be on the likes of Fakhar Zaman, M Hafeez, and Sohail Akhtar. They have made a notable inclusion in Phil Salt. He, however, will join the squad a bit later due to national commitments.
