The 6^th match of the PSL 2022 sees Lahore Qalandars take on Karachi Kings at National Stadium, Karachi on Sunday. Karachi Kings have made a poor start to their campaign as they suffered a 7-wicket defeat against Multan Sultans on Thursday. Karachi Kings batted first on a difficult pitch and could only manage to score 124 runs in the first innings.

Sharjeel Khan looked solid and scored a valuable 43-run knock off 31 balls. However, once he got out in the 10 over of the innings, the Kings lost the plot. The other batsmen in the batting unit failed to impress. Skipper, Babar Azam played a scratchy knock of 23 runs in 29 deliveries, while the likes of Joe Clarke (26 off 24) and M Nabi (10 off 17) also failed to convert the start into big knocks.

The bowlers tried hard but there wasn’t enough score on the board. M Nabi took two crucial wickets in his 3.2 over spell but he was, perhaps, brought a bit late into the attack. Karachi Kings are set to play their third match on Sunday and the fans would hope that they dish out a brilliant all-round performance.

Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, will be playing their second game. Shaheen Afridi has been appointed as their new skipper. He has taken over the captaincy duties from Sohail Khan.

Much like the last year, bowling is their strongest suit. In Shaheen Shah Afridi, Harris Rauf and Rashid Khan, they have got three of the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game.

As for the batting, the team would be banking on the likes of M Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Ben Dunk and Sohail Akhtar to name a few. As compared to the other franchises, there aren’t lot of match-winners with the bat, but they have got enough depth in the batting unit.

The presence of David Wiese, Samit Patel and Rashid Khan should keep them in good stead. Lahore Qalandars failed to reach the playoffs last year. It will be interesting to see how they fare this time around.

The pitch here at National Stadium is usually good for the batting. The teams batting first usually tend to score big totals on the board. The second match of the PSL 2022 saw both team scoring formidable totals on the board. It was a high scoring contest.

Expect the upcoming game between Islamabad and Peshawar to be another such affair. It will be a day game and thus due isn’t likely to come into the picture. But, still you expect the team to bat second upon winning the toss.
