Lahore Qalandars had won the toss & elected to bat first against the invincible Multan Sultans in the final of PSL 2023. LQ had a topsy-turvy powerplay where they scored 43 runs for the loss of 1 wicket. Sam Billings has had a pretty decent PSL 2023 where he has scored 226 runs. WATCH: Usama Mir takes back-to-back wickets

At the end of 13 overs, LQ’s score was 105-2 where Abdullah Shafique’s score was 30 runs in 22 balls whereas Sam Billings was on 3 runs in 4 balls.  Usama Mir was bowling the 14th over and on the 4th delivery, Sam Billings went down the track where Usama Mir foxed him by bowling a short of a length which turned out to be a straight one and thrashed his leg stump. Ahsan Bhatti, the left-handed batter came into bat & on the very first ball, Usama Mir trapped Ahsan Bhatti by bowling a leg break. All of a sudden LQ’s score was 111-4 where Usama Mir now has 3 wickets to his name in 1.5 overs where he has conceded 9 runs.

Crucial Phase for Lahore Qalandars

Lahore Qalandars would be banking on the veteran batter Sikandar Raza to play an impactful knock. Abdullah Shafique needs to convert his start & make sure that he bats till the end of the innings as going berserk from the word go would be tough for the new batters where the pitch is a bit sluggish.

Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan would sense that they can restrict LQ below 170. It won’t be a bad idea to use Usama Mir in the death bowlers as the spinner is on a roll. It would be interesting to see whether Rashid Khan gets promoted as he can change the complexion of the match quite quickly.
