Haris Rauf‘s campaign in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 (PSL 2024) came to an abrupt end due to an injury. A shoulder injury has ruled the fast bowler out of the competition.
He suffered the injury while fielding during the game between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings on February 24. The Pakistan star suffered the injury in the last over of the game. After bowling his full quota of four overs, he went for a running catch from long-off. And while he managed to take the catch, he ended up rolling forward awkwardly.
He looked in pain straight away and had to leave the field. Later, the Qalandars confirmed that the fast bowler had dislocated his shoulder and would need four to six weeks to recover. Haris Rauf played a total of four games in PSL 2024 and picked up two wickets.
“The medical panel, after consultation, concluded that he needs four to six weeks to recover, forcing him to miss the PSL season,” the Qalandars said in a statement.
Lahore Qalandars taking care of Haris Rauf’s injury:
Lahore Qalandars are reportedly taking care of Haris Rauf’s recovery process. As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, the fast bowler is undergoing treatment with Qalandars as the PSL franchise is bearing all the treatment expenses.
The report further added that the Pakistan Cricket Board has not provided any financial assistance to the fast-bowler. PCB’s medical team also decided against giving the bowler any advice. This comes after the PCB terminated the fast bowler’s central contract last month.
The PCB took the call for Haris Rauf’s decision to not travel to Australia for the three-match Test series. The fast bowler will also not be granted an NOC to participate in any overseas league until June 30 this year. Qalandars owner Sameen Rana recently slammed the PCB for their treatment of Haris Rauf. He criticized the board for announcing the player’s contract termination just before the start of the PSL.
“The timing of that announcement was wholly unnecessary. There was no Pakistan series coming up, or any emergency situation that necessitated the announcement two days before the PSL. Whatever the logic was, the timing was really bad. It was a huge blow psychologically for him because his whole life’s main aim is playing for Pakistan,” Rana told ESPNcricinfo.
