Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan and Karachi Kings captain Shan Masood were involved in a heated argument in the 24th match of the Pakistan Super League 2024. The dispute centered around Shadab Khan’s intervention in a Decision Review System call.
Shadab Khan chose to field first after winning the toss in Rawalpindi on Thursday, March 7. Islamabad United limited the Karachi Kings to a total of 150 runs during the first innings. The Islamabad-based franchise chased down the target with eight balls to spare.

The dispute between the captains revolved around a caught-behind review during Mohammad Nawaz’s bowling to Agha Salman. Shadab Khan raised concerns regarding the Decision Review System time limit, prompting Shan Masood to assert control over the review process.
Despite Shadab’s reservations, Shan proceeded with the review, which ultimately revealed no contact with the bat, allowing Agha Salman to survive the review.

Shan Masood Struggled To Score During Karachi’s Innings
The Kings got off to a disappointing start as they were reduced to 49/4 in the ninth over. Skipper Shan Masood contributed only 10 runs from 12 deliveries, including a solitary boundary. However, Kieron Pollard and James Vince added 58 runs for the fifth wicket.
However, their dismissal against the run of play prevented them from finishing strongly. Pollard emerged as the top scorer with 39 runs off 28 balls. Vince scored 29 runs off 27 balls, including five boundaries. The team ended with 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets.
Tymal Mills claimed three wickets, supported by Faheem Ashraf with two. Imad Wasim and Hunain Shah secured one wicket each. However, Skipper Shadab Khan remained wicketless, conceding 22 runs in his two overs.
Islamabad United Secure Victory With Five Wickets Remaining
In response, Islamabad United faced consistent setbacks, losing wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings. Openers Colin Munro (9 off 11) and Alex Hales (18 off 13) were dismissed within the first five overs. Mir Hamza provided two early wickets for the Kings.
Agha Salman (33 runs off 30 balls ) and Shadab Khan (34 runs off 26 balls) made promising starts, but they failed to capitalize on them. However, Haider Ali and Faheem Ashraf guided the Kings to reach their target in the penultimate over with five wickets in hand.
