India take on South Africa in a white-ball series comprising of three T20Is and three ODIs starting with the first T20I on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram. The next two T20Is will be played on October 2 and October 4 in Guwahati and Indore. The series then moves onto the three ODIs on October 6, 9 and 11 in Lucknow, Ranchi and Delhi respectively.

Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa has already announced their squads which will be led by Temba Bavuma who has recovered from a left elbow injury, that he suffered during the five-match T20I series against Team India in June. He will be also leading the side in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

After India’s forgetful campaign in the Asia Cup, the home series against South Africa and then Australia are India’s final two international assignments before the T20 World Cup. The management has not used found the right combination as far as the likely squad for the mega event is concerned.

The BCCI are yet to announce the Indian squad for the T20I and ODI series, Given how a few players performed in the Asia Cup, some players might be dropped from the squad that will be announced for the South Africa series. Among all the players who were disappointed in the Asia Cup, Rishabh Pant tops the list. He coped up with criticism regarding his dismissals and played very slowly when the team needed him to go big. Despite his poor form, he was selected in the Xi keeping Dinesh Karthik, the finisher on the bench. He is likely to be dropped from the T20I squad if his recent performances in the Asia Cup is taken into account.
