Indian Cricket Team would be delighted after winning the T20I Series. The team looks in perfect condition The 2nd T20I Match was held in Guwahati. South Africa had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian batters made the most of the conditions as the pitch was a batting-friendly one.
KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma made sure that they are not allowing any bowler to settle. The duo was toying with the bowling and it won’t be wrong to say that they humiliated South Africa’s powerful bowling unit. KL Rahul smashed a half-century and was looking in sublime touch.
KL Rahul scored 57 runs in 28 balls where he smashed 5 fours and 4 sixes. The batter as of now would most probably end the debate of opening position. The management would be thrilled after seeing KL Rahul’s batting as the batter knows when to attack and defend.
KL Rahul knows that the team wants him to play a significant knock so that the other batters can cash in. The batter would be aiming to do a hattrick of half-centuries in the 3rd T20I match. It would be interesting to see how the team fares in the final T20I match of the series as now the series is sealed
I am surprised I am getting the Man of the Match award, Surya should have gotten it- KL Rahul
During the post-match presentation, KL Rahul was asked about his back-to-back half-centuries and he asserted:
“It does feel satisfying on playing two contrasting knocks in the first two games. It is important as an opener to understand what is required on a day and give it your best. It is the mindset I have always played in and will continue to do the same. Satisfying to test yourself in different conditions.”
KL Rahul was asked about what score was on their mind. He said:
“Quite honestly, after the first two overs, the chat between me and Rohit was that the pitch was gripping. We thought 180-185 would be a good target. But the game surprises us.”
He was surprised on getting the Man of the Match Award and stressed that Suryakumar Yadav should have got it. He said:
“I am surprised I am getting the Man of the Match award, Surya should have gotten it. He changed the game. Having batted in the middle order, I have realized that it is difficult. DK doesn’t always get too many balls to face, and he was phenomenal, and so were Surya and Virat.”
He was asked about his first delivery four and he was happy after seeing the crowds. He said:
“The back foot punch off the first ball set me up. When I play both sides of the wicket, I know my balance is good. It tells me my head is stable. The crowds always turn up in India. It has been a while since cricket has been played in full stadiums. Phenomenal to see.”
