Shikhar Dhawan-led India National Cricket Team defeated David Miller-led South Africa National Cricket Team by 7 wickets in the third and final ODI of the three-match series on Tuesday, October 11 at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi. With the victory, the Men In Blue clinched the series win by 2-1.
India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. The decision turned out to be a perfect one for the side as they managed to bundle the visitors out for a double-digit score, 99.

The wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen was the top-scorer for the Proteas with 34 runs in his bag. Talking about the bowlers, the left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged 4 wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar picked up 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Dhawan failed for the third consecutive time in the series and got run out for 8 in the 7th over. Also, Ishan Kishan scored only 10 runs. However, Shubman Gill (49) and Shreyas Iyer (28*) batted brilliantly to help India go past the finish line.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan said that he is proud of the players for showing maturity and playing very well in the South Africa ODI series. He stated:
“I am proud of the boys, the way they played in the series. The way they carried the responsibility and showed maturity. Would like to thank the support staff.”
India National Cricket Team captain Shikhar Dhawan talked about the first ODI where India faced a 9-run defeat and said:
“We showed a lot of character in the first game, we dropped a few catches, but we never really put pressure on ourselves. We tried to stick to the process.”
Shikhar Dhawan further said that he is enjoying his journey very much and he will try to perform to the best of his abilities for Team India. Dhawan also lauded the bowlers and batters for performing brilliantly in the Delhi ODI.
He asserted: “I am enjoying the journey, I’ll try to keep performing well for my team. The boys showed great character on such tough batting pitches. The bowlers were clinical today.”
