IND vs SA: Watch – Ishan Kishan Grabs A Good Catch Off Axar Patel's Delivery To Send Back Quinton de Kock For 22

The 23-year-old Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan grabbed a brilliant catch near the boundary rope to dismiss South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock in the first T20I match of the five-match T20I series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, June 9.

Chasing the humongous target against India, South Africa lost the wicket of opener Temba Bavuma early on in the innings. However, Dwaine Pretorius played a good cameo knock to help South Africa gain momentum.

Premier opener Quinton de Kock was batting cautiously against the Indian bowling unit before his innings was brought to an end by left-arm spinner Axar Patel on the 4th ball of the 9th over.

Axar bowled a fuller length delivery just outside off to De Kock and the Proteas batter went for a slog-sweep. However, the connection between the bat and ball was not very good and he couldn’t clear the boundary rope.

Indian fielder Kishan, who was at the deep square leg, moved to his right and it looked like he had overrun and misjudged the ball. However, he got into a side-on position and grabbed the catch over his head just in front of the boundary rope.

South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman De Kock’s innings ended at 22 runs off 18 balls, including 3 boundaries.

Indian Batters Shine To Help India Score 211/4 In First T20I vs South Africa

Earlier, South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match with an eye on restricting India to a below-par total, which they eventually failed to do.

Star batting all-rounder Aiden Markram was tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the game and debutant Tristan Stubbs was named as his replacement in the playing XI.

India captain Rishabh Pant said that he was also looking forward to bowling first and Dinesh Karthik made a comeback to the Indian team after 3 long years.

Meanwhile, the entire Indian batting unit performed brilliantly and Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant made significant contributions.

In the end, vice-captain Hardik Pandya scored brilliant 31 runs off 12 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes to help India score 211/4
