Indian Cricket Team had won the toss and elected to bowl first. There was rain early in the morning due to which the match started late yet there was no deduction of overs. India had named unchanged playing 11 for the match. South Africa on the other hand once again was without Temba Bavuma and this time Keshav Maharaj was ill.
South African Cricket Team had a terrible start to the power-play overs. They lost 3 key wickets of Quinton de Kock, Jaaneman Malan & Reeza Hendricks. Indian pacers were bowling impeccable lines & lengths and they made sure that they are not giving any freebies to the batters.
Kuldeep Yadav Cleans Andile Phelukwayo
At the end of the 19th over, South Africa’s score was 67-5. The visitors were struggling to find the boundaries and form big partnerships. The 20th over was given to Kuldeep Yadav and the batter was the all-rounder Phelukwayo. On the 3rd delivery, he had hit a boundary through the square leg. On the 4th delivery, he was unable to pick the wrong one and was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. Due to his dismissal, now the Proteas are in tatters.
Critical Phase for South Africa
South Africa wouldn’t have thought that they would be in a precarious position. All eyes would be on Klaasen to bat deep as possible. Any score above 200 runs will give them some sort of chance in the match. If South Africa manages to not get bundled out then we have a match on our hands.
India on the other side has a golden chance to wrap up the innings. They should not allow Klaasen & Marco Jansen to build a partnership. Shikhar if needed should bring Shardul into the attack. It would be interesting to see how the team closes the innings as we could be in for a short match.
