India face South Africa in the second T20I in Cuttack on Sunday, June 12 intending to level the series. The hosts lost the first T20I in Delhi even after posting 211 batting first. The loss ex[posed the weakness in Idia’s death bowling and a few other important concerns as a team.
Rishabh Pant is leading the team in the absence of KL Rahul who was ruled out after injuring himself in the series. Kuldeep Yadav too is missing out after coping with an injury while batting at the nets.

The Indian team lost a Test and an ODI series when they played South Africa in South Africa earlier this year. This T20I series started their preparations for the T20 World Cup in Australia in October. It started on a bad note which might force the management to make some changes to their playing XI in the second T20I against South Africa.

Ishan Kishan

Kishan scored a scintillating 76 in the first T20I and gave India a great platform to launch in the final overs. He should look to replicate his knock in the second T20I.

Ruturaj Gaikwad

Gaikwad scored 23 in the first ODI and was dismissed at the wrong time. He should be given another opportunity. The talent of Gaikwad now needs to be translated into international performances.
Shreyas Iyer

In Virat Kohli’s absence, Iyer has owned the number three position. Since the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he has been scoring consistently. In the first T20I he scored a crucial 36 and played his part in taking India above 200.
Rishabh Pant (C/WK)

Pant scored 29 in his very first innings as India’s T20I captain. His innings provided a good finish to the team’s end total. His captaincy needs to be better though in the second T20I.
Hardik Pandya

Pandya scored an unbeaten 31off 12 balls. Though his innings was a good one, he was guilty of not taking the single off the penultimate delivery in the previous game.
Dinesh Karthik

Karthik scored just one off two balls in his return game for India. He needs to be better used by the team management in the remaining ODIs.
Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi should be included in place of Axar Patel in the second ODI. Given that the series is all about giving opportunities to the players it should not be a bad change. Besides the South Africans are not good players of leg-spin in general.
Harshal Patel

Patel too was expensive in the first T20I against South Africa. He and Axar both went for over 40 runs from their spell. He should be given another game before the management decide on playing him for the rest of the games.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvi had a rare off day with the ball in the first T20I against South Africa. He is the most experienced bowler in this Indian lineup and needs to be trusted to bounce back.
Yuzvendra Chahal

Skipper Rishabh Pant was guilty of not completing Chahal’s overs in the first T20I. Chahal is a wicket-taking option for India and should be used the same way in the remaining games.
Umran Malik

Malik should be included in India’s playing XI for the second T20I. There has been enough talk about his pace in the IPL which has unsettled batsmen in the IPL. His raw pace can be used as a tactic against the South African batsmen.
