Watch: Captain Shikhar Dhawan Gets Cleaned Up By Wayne Parnell For Second Consecutive Time In The 3-Match ODI Series

The 33-year-old South Africa National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Wayne Parnell dismissed the India National Cricket Team captain Shikhar Dhawan for the second consecutive time in the ongoing three-match ODI series on Sunday, October 9.

The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi is hosting the second ODI of the three-match ODI series between Shikhar Dhawan-led India National Cricket Team and Keshav Maharaj-led South Africa National Cricket Team, which is part of the ongoing South Africa tour of India 2022.

India National Cricket Team captain Shikhar Dhawan scored only 13 runs off 20 balls, including 1 six, before being sent back to the pavilion by the Proteas left-arm pacer in the 6th over of the second innings.

On the last ball of the 6th over, Parnell bowled a good length delivery to Dhawan, which was pitched outside off-stump. The Indian captain came down the track to play across the line, but the ball went past the inside edge and destroyed the off-stump.

It’s A Tricky Wicket And Not Easy For The New Batter Coming In – Reeza Hendricks

Batting first, South Africa posted a score of 278 for 7 on the board. They were off to a poor start in the match as Quinton de Kock was cleaned up for 5 by Mohammed Siraj in the third over itself and opener Janneman Malan was also sent back for 25 by debutant Shahbaz Ahmed in the 10th over.

However, Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks batted very well and added crucial 129 runs in 129 balls. Both the players smashed brilliant half-centuries and helped the Proteas reach 278/7.

Speaking after the innings Reeza Hendricks said that he is delighted to contribute good runs with the bat for his side. He said:

“Nice to get out there and get some time in the middle and contribute as well as I did. Obviously would have loved to have gone to three figures, but I will take the contribution at the end. Nice batting with Aiden, we knew that the partnership at the time was to set up good innings, unfortunately, both of us got out at the wrong time. 

“We needed one of us to push hard and be there at the end and with the batting at the end, we would have posted a bit of a better score. We were thinking at least 285. 300 was definitely on the cards had one of us batted through. They bowled well at the end, not easy as it’s a tricky wicket and not easy for the new batter coming in.”
