IND vs SL: Ravindra Jadeja's Hunger For Success is Clearly Visible To Me-Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma praised Ravindra Jadeja for his spectacular all-round show in India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test in Mohali. Rohit Sharma said that he can clearly see Ravindra Jadeja’s hunger for success and this hunger drives him to move forward.

Jadeja played a fabulous knock of unbeaten 175 runs in the 1st innings of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test. Later, he also picked a 5-wicket haul in the 1st innings. In the 2nd innings during Sri Lanka’s follow-on, Jadeja hunted 4 more wickets and accounted for 9 wickets in the match. For his out-of-the-box performance, he was also handed the player of the match trophy.

Want To Use Ravindra Jadeja A Lot More With The Bat: Rohit Sharma

Speaking after the win in Mohali, Rohit Sharma said that he wants to use Jadeja more with the bat. Jadeja came out to bat at no.7 in the 1st Test against Sri Lanka. Other than his unbeaten 175 runs, he also stitched three 100-plus partnerships with Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Mohammed Shami.

“As a captain, I want to use Jadeja a lot more with the bat. We all know his bowling and everyone knows about his fielding. To me, he is one of the top (allrounders) definitely. Look at the performances. To score 175 not out and take nine wickets in the game, he’s just upping his game every time we see him. In the past as well, when we played in India, his contribution with the bat lower down the order and taking those crucial wickets (has been great), Rohit Sharma said.

Ravindra Jadeja is Quite Hungry For Success: Rohit Sharma

Sharma also said that he can clearly see the hunger for success in Ravindra Jadeja.

” You know, he just seems to be adding a lot more to his game every time he plays. He’s very hungry, as you can see. That hunger is something that drives athletes to move forward. I see that in Jadeja clearly. He’s quite hungry for success, for runs and do well for the team”, Sharma further said.

India defeated Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the 1st Test. Batting first, India posted 574-8 (d) on the board with 175* by Jadeja and 96 by Rishabh Pant. Later, India bowled out to Sri Lanka for just 174 and gave them a follow-on. In the 2nd innings, India crushed Sri Lanka for 178.

Other than Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin picked 6 wickets in the match. Mohammed Shami accounted for 3 wickets while Bumrah picked 2 wickets. India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test begins on March 12 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
