Yuzvendra Chahal took 1 for 11 in three overs as India beat Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the first T20I in Lucknow. In the process, the hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the series courtesy of a clinical performance from the Rohit Sharma led-team.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have a lot to ponder heading into the second game on Saturday, February 26 in Dharmasala. Skipper Dasun Shanaka spoke about the team being outplayed in all three departments of the game by a much-stronger Indian outfit in the first game.
Yuzvendra Chahal Now Has 67 T20I Wickets To His Name

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal achieved a new record after his performance in the first game. He has now become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 67 wickets to his name. The wicket of Shanaka was the 67th of his T20I career.
Heading into this game, he was on part with Jasprit Bumrah with 66 T20I wickets and Shanaka’s wicket helped his edge past his Indian teammate. Bumrah went wicketless in the game but still, he is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the format. Ravichandran Ashwin (61), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (57) and Ravindra Jadeja (47) make it to the top five highest wicket-takers for India in this format.
Rohit Sharma spoke about Jadeja’s rise as a cricketer and especially as a batsman in the post-match presentation. Jadeja bowled a spell of 1 for 28 off his three overs in the game. He got the key wicket of the experienced Dinesh Chandimal in the 10th over of the Lankan innings.

“Very happy with Jadeja’s return. We want more from him that is why we asked him to bat higher. You will see that happening more and more in the games that he plays for India. I want him to bat up the order more. He is a very improved batter, so we will try and see if we can promote him going forward” said Rohit on Jadeja.
