IND vs SL: "Management's Job To Get Prithvi Shaw Back"- Gautam Gambhir

Indian Cricket Team is all set to clash against Sri Lanka for a 3 T20I Match series commencing from 3rd January (Tuesday). Hardik Pandya has been named the skipper as Rohit Sharma is yet to recover from the injury. Surprisingly, the dashing right-handed batter Prithvi Shaw has not been named in the squad where the batter has been amassing runs in the domestic circuit.

The Men in Blue cannot take Sri Lanka lightly as they have got a surprise element. Sri Lanka has got a lot of match-winners present in the team which makes them a dangerous asset. The island nation will have to bring their ‘A’ game even against a second-string Indian side that looks a formidable one.

Gautam Gambhir on Prithvi Shaw

Gautam Gambhir was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about the development of players like Prithvi Shaw. “ What are selectors are there for, not just to select the team or just probably have the squads or probably do the throw downs and probably make them ready for the game. It’s the selectors, coaches, management to get these guys ready especially the likes of Prithvi Shaw. We all know the type of talent he has and get him on the right track as well that is one of the jobs of the management, it is not only preparing them for a game or helping them for the practice sessions,” said Gautam Gambhir.

“Whether it is Rahul Dravid or National Chairman Selector to have a word with him and keep him around the group. I like players who are not on a good path but should always kept around the people so that they are monitored better. The moment you leave them apart, they can go all over the place,” he added.

Crucial Series for India

The way Hardik Pandya led India against New Zealand, it won’t be wrong to say that the flamboyant all-rounder can be the long-term option in the shorter format. It would be interesting to see whether Rahul Tripathi gets a game as the right-handed batter has been scoring runs in the domestic circuit as well as in IPL.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be worried about the bowling unit which looks inexperienced. Sri Lanka recently adopted a fearless approach where we can see high-scoring games. The Men in Blue will have to start well against Sri Lanka as we all witnessed how Sri Lanka defeated India in the Asia Cup 2022 league stage match.
