Virat Kohli started the new year on a fantastic note, scoring the 45th ODI century of his career and guiding India to a 67-run win over Sri Lanka in the first ODI of the three-match series in Guwahati on Tuesday. Virat returned to his best form in white-ball cricket and scored his second consecutive century in the 50-over format after a lean patch of more than three years.
The 34-year-old was going through a rough patch in his career ahead of the Asia Cup and had not scored a century in international cricket for three years.
The right-handed batsman smashed his first T20I century against Afghanistan, scoring an unbeaten 122 off 61 balls. Many fans have criticized Virat Kohli’s performance against the Afghanistan team after India was eliminated from the Asia Cup.

This Guy Is A Cricketing Genius – Salam Butt
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt hailed Virat Kohli as a cricketing genius. Butt said that Kohli scored 73 centuries in his career and contributed significantly to the success of the Indian team.
“He scored a century against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup. They have a strong bowling attack. How many batters have scored a century against them? People often say that it is a weak team or a flat track whenever Kohli scores a century. That guy has done it 73 times. I don’t know why certain fans do this. This guy is a cricketing genius,” Salman Butt said on his YouTube channel.
Such Knocks Take A Player To The Next Level – Salam Butt
Salman Butt hailed the former India captain for his extraordinary knock under immense pressure against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Virat Kohli scored 82 runs against Pakistan and guided India to victory in a tough run chase.
“Virat Kohli’s knock against Pakistan during the T20 World Cup was a very special one. It’s never easy to play in such a fashion, especially when you are going through a form slump. Such knocks take a player to the next level,” he added.
