Indian Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against Sri Lanka for a 3 T20I Match series starting from 3rd January (Tuesday). The selection panel has named a second-string squad as senior players like Virat & Rohit are not a part of. The speedster Umran Malik most likely will lead the bowling attack.
This T20I Series is considered to be the start of a new era for Indian cricket in T20Is. The flamboyant all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named the skipper as it looks unlikely that Rohit Sharma would lead the team after the 2022 T20 WC Semi-final defeat.

Umran Malik on Breaking Shoaib Akhtar’s Fastest Bowling Record
Umran Malik was having an interaction with News 24 and was asked whether he aims breaking Shoaib Akhtar’s fastest bowling record. “Right now, I’m only thinking about performing well for the country. If I do well, and if I’m lucky, I’ll break that. But I don’t think about it at all. You don’t get to realise how fast you’ve bowled during the match. It’s only when we come back after the game when we get to know how fast I was. During the game, my only focus is on bowling in the right areas and picking wickets.” said Umran Malik.
Great Chance for India
The youngsters like Shubman Gill & Ishan Kishan would be eager to stamp their authority and make a case for themselves for the 2024 T20 WC. All eyes would be on Ishan Kishan after he smashed a double century against Bangladesh in the 3rd ODI.
Surprisingly Suryakumar Yadav has been named the vice captain of the side. It would be interesting to see whether that affects his natural game. The Men in Blue would be aware of the fact that they cannot take Sri Lanka lightly as they have got a lot of match winners present in the team and have a pretty long batting line up.
