Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardene’s records in IND vs SL 2nd ODI. Virat Kohli has the opportunity to hit most ODI centuries at home and become the 5th highest all-time run-scorers in ODIs.

Virat Kohli smacked a marvellous century in the IND v SL 1st ODI. With his stupendous 113-run knock, Kohli slammed his 45th ODI century and 73rd international century. He also won the man of the march award for his astonishing batting in the opening ODI match.

Virat Kohli On The Verge Of Breaking Sachin Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardene Records

Entering the IND vs SL 2nd ODI, Kohli eyes two records. To begin with, Virat Kohli can surpass Sachin Tendulkar to become the Indian player with the most ODI centuries at home. Kohli and Sachin both account for 20 ODI centuries while playing on home soil. if he smashes one more ton, he will surpass Tendulkar for the record.

Another record that the former India skipper eyes in the 2nd ODI is becoming the 2nd highest run-scorer in ODIs. Kohli needs 67 more runs to become the all-time 5th highest run-getter in ODIs. Currently, Mahela Jayawardene holds the 5th spot on the list.

Former Sri Lanka player Mahela Jayawardene has scored 12650 runs in his ODI career. Virat Kohli accounts for 12584 runs so far. If he manages to score 67 runs in the next ODI, he will surpass Mahela Jayawardene on this list.

India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI will take place on January 12 (Thursday). The venue of the match is Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. India leads the series 1-0 after winning the 1st ODI by 67 runs.

In the IND vs SL 1st ODI, India batted first and slammed a mammoth total of 373-7 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 83 runs for the team while Shubman Gill hit 70 runs. Virat Kohli hit 113 runs for the team.

Later, Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka scored 72 runs for the team. Dhananjaya de Silva also scored 47 runs. Dasun Shanaka smacked a marvellous unbeaten century of 108 but was helpless against a massive target. In the end, Sri Lanka finished with 306-8 on the scoreboard and lost by 67 runs.
