Virat Kohli came back to national duty during the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati after missing the T20Is last week. And the former skipper took pleasure in the action from the bench while cushioned as India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a display by bringing up a century partnership.
He was passionate as usual, cheering anytime a boundary was scored and even exchanging jabs with Ishan Kishan, who was left off of India’s playing XI.

Virat Kohli Surprised By DRS Call
Particularly funny was Virat Kohli’s response to his skipper Rohit’s survival of a tight DRS call. When spinner Wanindu Hasaranga’s ball struck Rohit in the pads while he was batting at 45 runs off of 35 balls, the entire Sri Lankan side raised their hands in a resounding appeal.
Dasun Shanaka went upstairs for a review after the on-field umpire ruled it not out. The conclusion that appeared on the large screen after considerable consideration was “not out.”
Really close calls were made. Rohit had been defeated by Hasaranga with the googly. The India skipper was spared by the bounce after the ball landed on the red strip and the impact was also desired. The on-field umpire’s ruling stood despite the fact that the ball was touching the top of the middle stump.
Kohli, though, could have had a different opinion. When the camera turned to the dugout, Kohli was seen conversing with Ishan who was seated next to him and raised his finger, maybe indicating that he thought Rohit had been struck out.

Regardless of what Kohli believed, the captain continued to play after surviving. Prior to the youngster being out LBW for 70 off 60 balls, he and Gill contributed 143 runs for the first wicket in 19.4 overs, giving India a strong start. When Rohit played on a ball from Dilshan Madushanka, he finally fell for 83.
