Aakash Chopra, a former Indian opener, claimed that MS Dhoni was a once-in-a-generation skipper for Team India and that there may be very few leaders like him.
India was led by Dhoni to victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. Since the talismanic skipper resigned, the Men in Blue have failed to win a major competition.

In a video posted on his YouTube account, Aakash Chopra was asked what he felt about how many leaders India has had in the past year or so and what makes MS Dhoni unique. With nothing but love for Dhoni, the former Indian opener said:
“Dhoni was a once-in-a-generation skipper. First, his performance was fantastic, and then his presence was fantastic. He was an inspiration, he was and still is an institution”

People have run out of terms to describe the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, Aakash Chopra continued, elaborating: “You get very few people like him. When such people arrive, a new age begins. It was thus MS Dhoni’s time. He was both a unique player and a unique skipper. You can’t put MS Dhoni into words; he is that good of a player.”
“We change the captain every day”: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra admitted that India has recently had an excessive number of captains, noting:
“Yes, we do switch out the skipper every day. In every game or series, a new captain is elected. The truth is that Shikhar Dhawan led the team prior to Rohit Sharma as captain during the most recent ODI series.”

Dhawan had a dismal 2022 with the bat, amassing 688 runs in 22 ODIs with a strike rate of 74.21 and a below-average average of 34.41. The seasoned opener was not included in India’s ODI team for the three-match series against Sri Lanka because Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill had been doing exceptionally well with the bat at the top of the order in recent games.
