Cameron Green had an Ashes series to remember scoring 228 runs and picking up 13 wickets as Australia beat England 4-0. He played all five games giving a perfect example of his fitness and importance in the team. He picked up four wickets in the fifth and final Test match where England slumped from 68 for 1 to 124 all out in the second innings.
Cameron Green in the post-match presentation said that it was a pretty special achievement and he did not believe that his team would potentially win the fifth and final Test.
“Probably not in my wildest dreams I thought this could happen today. It is pretty special and I will look back when it starts to sink in, in the next couple of days,” Green said after the win in the post-match presentation.
“It was good fun out there, good to help the team out and so good to get the job done. You’ve watched Ashes cricket your whole life, you are overwhelmed initially, as you get to the back end, you get used to it,” he added.
Green also had a word of praise for his new skipper Pat Cummins who started his captaincy stint in Test matches with an Ashes series win at home. Cummins ended the series as the highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets followed by Mitchell Starc (19).
He Is So Calm In The Middle: Cameron Green On Pat Cummins
“He’s been unreal, he’s so calm in the middle even when the openers were going well. It is always nice to spend some time in the middle and hopefully, it continues,” said Green as he praised his skipper.
Australia will next play Pakistan in Pakistan in a full-fledged series comprising of three Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20I game. The series will be played between March 03-April 05 as the Aussies will be touring Pakistan for the first time since 1998.
There are also reports that some players are unwilling to travel to the country given the social unrest in the country.
“If some players need to make a choice, it’s absolutely fine that they won’t be there. Still got a bit of water to go under the bridge, a bit more info to gather and get around to everyone,” said Cummins.
