England‘s Tom Richardson take the 5th spot in this list. The late cricketer picked 13 wickets for 244 in a Test match against Australia in 1896. The right-arm pacer scalped 7 wickets in the 1st innings and 6 wickets in the 2nd innings. However, England finished on the losing end as Australia won the match by 3 wickets.

4. Merv Hughes (Australia) – 13/217 (1988)

Former Australia cricketer Merv Hughes gets the 4th spot in this list. The right-arm pacer picked 13 wickets for 217 runs in a Test match against West Indies in 1988. In that match, Hughes bagged 5 wickets in the 1st innings and 8 wickets in the 2nd innings. However, Australia had a big target of 404 in the final innings and they were bowled out for 234. Hence, West Indies won the match by 169 runs.

3. Sydney Barnes (England)- 13/163 (1902)

Late English cricketer Sydney Barnes takes the 3rd spot in this list. In 1902 during a Test match between England and Australia, Sydney Barnes registered bowling figures of 13/163. The right-arm pacer picked 6 wickets in the 1st innings and 7 wickets in the 2nd innings. However, Australia won the match by 229 runs after setting a target of 405 for England in the 4th innings.

2. Javagal Srinath (India)- 13/132 (1999)

Javagal Srinath gets the 2nd spot in this list. During a Test match against Pakistan in 1999, the Indian pacer picked 13 wickets for 132 runs. The right-arm pacer picked 5 wickets in the 1st innings and 8 wickets in the 2nd innings. However, India failed to chase the 279-run target in the final innings and lost the match by 46 runs.

1. Ajaz Patel (New Zealand)- 14/225 (2021)

Ajaz Patel takes the top spot on this list. In a recent Test match against India, the New Zealand spinner picked 14 wickets for 225 runs. Patel made the record for picking 10 wickets in a single innings during the 1st innings of the match.

In the second innings, he picked 4 wickets. However, New Zealand were bowled out at 62 in the 1st innings in response to India’s 325. A 540-run target for New Zealand in the final innings was almost impossible and they lost by 372 runs in the end.
