Joe Root has revealed that he is thinking of entering IPL 2022 auction but will take a final decision only after confirming that it will not hamper his Test game. Joe Root is England’s Test skipper who only represents the team in the longest format currently. The right-handed batsman currently holds the 2nd spot in ICC rankings for Test batsmen.

31-year-old Root has never been part of IPL tournaments before. He went unsold in IPL 2018 auction at a base price of Rs. 1.5 crore. Although he is a Test specialist, Root does have experience of playing 152 ODIs and 32 T20Is for England in the past. The 31-year-old accounts for 6109 runs in ODIs at an average of 51.34 and 983 runs in T20Is at an average of 35.72.
